Reformed in 1948 by a handful of modern winemakers, the Jurade continues to play a ceremonial role in celebrating the great moments in the wine calendar.

Reformed in 1948 by a handful of modern winemakers, the Jurade continues to play a ceremonial role in celebrating the great moments in the wine calendar.

Since 2008 the Jurade has also served as ambassador for the Lussac Saint-Emilion and Puisseguin Saint-Emilion appellations. Every year the Jurade declares the official ‘Judgement of the New Wine’ and opens the harvests with the ‘Ban des Vendanges’. The Jurade also organises tasting events and initiation ceremonies to promote the glory and prosperity of Saint-Emilion’s wines.

Various chapters have been founded around the world, with branches in London, York and Oxford in the UK, Flanders and Wallonia in Belgium and Texas in the USA, Malta and Hong Kong.
